Carried out all civils works for deep foundations for the subsequent installation of two X-Ray scanners and construction of three related administration, operations and control unit offices. The project was located in the Dakar harbour area.

The EPC project comprises the detailed engineering, procurement and construction of a cargo warehouse at the Kotoka International Airport - Accra - Ghana. The warehouse some 9m high includes a mezzanine floor for offices. Included within the structure are cargo storage areas, with separate import and export facilities, offices, cold rooms, toilet facilities. The provision of and connection top all associated utilities is included in the project.

Construction in Dakar of five residential apartment blocks, one comprising ground floor plus two floors and four with ground floor plus three floors, providing totally 80 apartments.

This major refurbishment project for the airport comprised runway extensions and resurfacing, the provision of all required ground lighting and additional navigational aids, extensive renovation and addition of 5000 sq.m to the main terminal building including air-cooled chilled water plant and diesel power plant with associated step up/step down transformers and medium voltage transmission to the terminal building. Renovation of existing departure area facility, construction of additional parking areas with access roads, security access and lighting, service buildings for car rental agencies and banking facility, a freight hangar with associated office space. The project commenced in December 2006. The project originally planned for 6 months was extended during execution due to numerous additional requirements by the client. Zakhem was responsible for all building extensions and associated renovation works.

Rehabilitation and extension of a nine storey office building in Dakar city center, including excavation, construction of a raft foundation, concrete structural works, demolition, masonry works, all required finishing works and associated electrical & mechanical works. New build 1400 sq.m and renovation 2800 sq.m.

Project for the construction of a police base in the town of Popongine near to the Presidential retreat, comprising the construction of five new single storey buildings and the rennovation of four existing buildings.

This environmental related project for the construction of three small dams was carried out on an emergency basis in order to prevent the repetative loss of local village habitats & food stores and the regularly ensuing distress for the village population. In addition the the water retained by the dams provides a water source to help sustain local agriculture. The basic earth fill dams with diversionary channels were constructed across naturally formed stormwater drainage channels and the project consisted of all excavation, foundation works, earth dam filling and compaction, reinforced concrete overspill channel walls and concrete bound rip rap facings. Basic works were completed in 1.5 months and now additional works in the area are being considered by the client to further improve the effectiveness of the dams and provide additional protection from the environment for the local village. Works were started mid June 2003. The initial contract works were completed and acceptance certificate issued on 24 July 2003. Additional works were carried out to enhance water retention and utilization and acceptance certificate issued on 8 October 2003.

The Contract for this project was signed on 21 October 2003 with PCRPE and comprises procurement, construction and Commissioning of the following works: i. Rehabilitation and extension of outdoor football stadium, ii Construction of indoor basketball and atheletics track, iii Provision of electrical network and floodlighting. The beneficiary of the project carried out under the direction of PCRPE is the Ministory of Sport. Project is now delayed after it was put on hold by the client in January 2005.

This prestigious turnkey project includes the preparation of feasability study, preparation of detailed building programs, detailed design of buildings, infrastructure & landscaping, final listing of furniture & equipment requirements. The preparation of the final project cost estimate. The construction of the project commencing with the infrastructure. Involved in assisting Client in setting up funding for the project. Works were proceeding steadily until works were suspended in 2006 by the client due to lack of available funds.

The project for the construction of 35,000 sq.m., multi storey reinforced concrete framed structure providing, 400 patient bedrooms, 10 operating theatres, a morgue, classrooms, a computer center, coffee shop & dietary cafeteria, 9 diagnostic clinics, doctors clinics, emergency room trauma centre, catering facilities & standby power facilities.

The finishing works were to an extremely high standard and the building was fully airconditioned throughout.

The project was completed in just over 17 months using the "Tunnel Form" method of contruction for the main reinforced concrete frame. Prefabricated bathroom pods were utilised throughout. Included in the project was the complete fitting out of the hotel which incorporated the latest technology in M & E control systems and computer based operational facilities and environment control.

This EPC contract for a 249 room 5 star hotel situated on a prime site in the centre of Accra includes initial feasability studies, design/detailed engineering, procurement of all construction materials/hotel furnishings and equipment. Both detailed design and construction are now underway. Construction works include site clearance and construction of infrastructure providing all required utilities\services, construction of the 7 storey concrete framed structure including bedrooms, leasure facilities, bars, restaurents and staff facilities. The Engineering works are being executed in the USA under the supervision of Zakhem Construction.
