The "Congo Integrated Gas Power Generation Project" is an integrated upstream\downstream project. The downstream development project comprises the complete cycle power generation with a maximum supply capacity of 450 - 480 Mw (combined cycle to be implemented in future). Zakhem Congo SARL is subcontracted to ABB Spa, Process Automation Division, Italy. The total project is for Euro 260 million (USD 182 Million) of which the subcontract is Euro 75 milion (USD 52.5 Million) with planed expansion to Euro 115 (USD 80.5 million). The works for the construction of an Open cycle Power Generation Plant consisting 2 x 160 Mw gas turbine generators includes, all civil works, electromechanical, instrumentation control , fabrication, installation, sand blasting, painting, insulation and pre commissioning of the following components: flare system, fuel gas system, diesel oil storage and distribution system, compressed air system, black start gas turbine generators, emergency power generation , closed circuit water cooling system, service, demi snd potable water systems, blow down & close drain systems, oily sewer system & chemical storage and distribution system, sanitary discharge treatment and storage system, foam / water firefighting system, all civil and structural works, all electrical and instrumentation works, precommissioning, general services, camp facilities, utilities and office services.

The project a 223 MW thermal plant is situated on an undeveloped costal site close to the town of Kpone near to Tema on the Gulf of Guinea. The contract for the installation, testing and commissioning of two Alstom GT11N2 (EV) Gas Turbine Generators and all associated auxilliaries plus the EPC of the power plant infrastructure. The plant will supply power to the National Grid supplementing existing hydro and thermo generation and ensure base load capacity in times of water shortage when there is inability of hydro generation to meet requirements.
